Ten Good Rules: A Counting Book, written by Susan Remick Topek, is a short, colorful, very kid-friendly introduction to the Ten Commandments and the numbers one through ten. Each commandment is written in easy-to-understand language. For instance, the ninth commandment is simply explained as, "Do not tell lies."

The illustrations by Tod Cohen are bright photographs of children acting out the parts. A couple of the photographs include adults. All the pages have colorful "block" borders with the corresponding number in one of the blocks and a photo of a child's hand (or hands) holding up the appropriate number of fingers.
